Susannah North Martin
I am the eleventh great-granddaughter of Susannah North Martin, and by every account she was sharp, plain-spoken, and unwilling to make herself smaller than the world wanted her to be.
In 1692 the court at Salem called her a witch. She laughed at them. She would not weep, she would not grovel, and she would not lie to save her own life, and on the nineteenth of July they hanged her for it, alongside four other women.
The women most likely to be called witches were the ones who would not be managed, who knew things their neighbors did not and kept their own counsel. The women in my family have carried that streak ever since, the feeling for the plants and the quiet knowing, and I keep it alive in the open. If that word is the one people use for me, I will wear it without flinching.
I do not deny the craft. I carry it on.
Why this shop
For centuries the things women knew were called wisdom in one season and witchcraft in the next. They understood which herb would ease a fever, which root would steady the heart, and how to read what a person was carrying before a single word was spoken, and they were feared for it.
Halcyon Earth Magic is how I carry that forward. The herbs are real, the stones are real, and so is the practice that Susannah was killed for.
And then there is me
The women in my family have always known things. My mother, her mother, and hers before her all seemed to feel what other people carried, the moods and the energy in a room, before a word was ever spoken. I grew up the same way.
I was lucky to be raised in a forest in the Pacific Northwest, and as a girl I spent whole days among the trees, who felt far more like friends than scenery. In that sense I think I have always known this work.
These days I am a practicing herbalist and a Reiki master in the Usui tradition, working with life-force energy and with the plants, which are two halves of the same craft as far as I am concerned. What Susannah could only do in secret, I am free to practice in the open, and I do not take that lightly.

How things are made
Every crystal is cleansed and charged with Reiki before it ships. The herbal blends and salves are made in small batches, with ingredients gathered close to home whenever I can and sourced ethically the rest of the time. Nothing here is mass-produced, and nothing about it is rushed.
Because every stone is natural, the one that arrives at your door will look a little different from any photograph, with its own shape and its own markings, and that small difference is exactly what makes it worth having.
